Safety and Security Enhancements
Our Safety Measures and Enhancements
LCPS has multiple safety features already in place and continues to add new enhancements each year to protect our students, staff, and visitors:
• Sally Port secure entrances at all buildings, ensuring exterior doors remain locked at all times.
• Security cameras and emergency radios in all facilities.
• Keyless entry for staff to maintain locked doors while providing safe access.
• Four School Resource Officers in partnership with the Macomb County Sheriff's Office and Chesterfield Police Department, working directly with staff and students.
• Light alert systems in loud areas (band rooms, gyms, etc.) where announcements may be difficult to hear.
• Safety equipment in all schools and classrooms to strengthen building security in emergencies.
• Ongoing evaluation of procedures and research into additional safety equipment.
Mandatory Visitor and Student Release Procedures
Parents, teachers, school administrators, and support staff all play an important role in helping keep our schools safe. For this reason, the following procedures are mandatory in all LCPS buildings:
• All visitors, including parents and guardians, must report to the school office and present picture identification upon entering the building.
• All persons entering the building must use the front entrance; all other doors remain locked.
• Students will only be released to individuals listed on the student's enrollment or emergency sheet. Please keep this information current.
• Picture identification is required when picking up a child from school.
