Since L'Anse Creuse Public Schools was founded in 1954, our district has watched generations of students grow, learn, and thrive with the education they receive from our schools. Year after year, our high schools have the privilege to graduate well-rounded and dedicated young minds, many of whom have spent 12+ years in a L'Anse Creuse building.

Performing Arts

The arts are alive and well in L'Anse Creuse! Our high school students put on various shows throughout the school year that entertain audience members of all ages. All shows take place at the John Armstrong Performing Arts Center, and ticket sales are online only at the link below. Senior pricing is available for all L'Anse Creuse shows.

Our district also maintains a YouTube Channel where community members can watch school concerts, view Board of Education meetings, and catch episodes of Creuseline—a news show created by Broadcast Journalism student at the Pankow Center.

Newsletter

The L'Anse Creuse Foundation

One of the best ways to actively support our schools and community is to give back to the L'Anse Creuse Foundation. Founded in 1989, The L’Anse Creuse Foundation was created with the intention of filling the gaps in public school funding and giving the community a way to directly invest in local education. They host regular events for community members to participate in and accept any form of monetary donation. 

All donations go directly back into the schools, with a large majority funding teacher grants for classroom needs, educational materials, and even additional spaces to ensure every learner has the ability to succeed.

Taylor Girard (2016, LCHS-N)

Taylor Girard is a professional hockey player playing for the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) Detroit team. Taylor played collegiate hockey for both Quinnipiac University and Lindenwood University and later signed with the Connecticut Whale in her professional debut in the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF). Since the creation of the PWHL, Taylor has played on the Boston Fleet, the New York Sirens, and will play for PWHL Detroit in 2026 for their inaugural season.

Tyler Conklin (2013, LCHS-N)

Tyler Conklin is a professional football player (tight end) for the Detroit Lions in the National Football League (NFL). After graduating from Central Michigan University in 2017, Tyler was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the fifth round (157th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft. He entered his first season with the Detroit Lions in 2026 after stints with the Los Angeles Chargers (2025), New York Jets (2022-24) and Minnesota Vikings (2018-21)

Steve Oleksy (2004, LCHS-N)

Steve Oleksy is a National Hockey League (NHL) player and the first LCHS-N alumni to become a professional athlete in the school’s history. After graduating college, Oleksy played for the East Coast Hockey League and International Hockey League before signing with minor league team, the Hershey Bears. On March 5, 2013, he was called up to play in the NHL for the Washington Capitals.

Jenny Risher (1993, LCHS-North)

Jenny Risher released a book, "Heart, Soul, Detroit" and hosted an opening party and exhibition for HEART SOUL DETROIT at The Center Galleries, College for Creative Studies/ Manoogian Visual Resource Center on Jan. 25 .  The exhibit is open until March 2. Jenny Risher Website

Doug Hewitt (1975, LCHS)

Doug Hewitt released a new book "Raising Khane," a science fiction thriller, on Nov. 19, 2012. His wife, Robin Hewitt (also a L'Anse Creuse alumnus), released "Crawford Hill, the first in a series of erotic psychological thrillers, on Nov. 19, 2012.
