Full-Scale Disaster Training Exercise
Macomb County Emergency Management will be coordinating disaster drills at three area high schools on August 8, 2019. L'Anse Creuse High School has been selected as a location for one of the drills. There will be personnel from the Macomb County Sheriff, Harrison Township Fire Department, Dispatchers, EMS and local area hospitals participating in this "mock" disaster drill. There has been a tremendous amount of planning and coordination between the county, first responders and local school districts.
In addition to the first responders, we are anticipating over 250 L'Anse Creuse Public Schools students and staff taking part in this exercise. In late June, a communication was sent via Powerschool regarding this exercise to all current high school students in the district. Student participation on the two dates below will provide them the opportunity to earn (8) eight hours of community service credit toward graduation.
Important Dates: L'Anse Creuse High School Exercise
July 30th: Training Session: all high school student and staff participants. This will take place from 10 am until 12 pm in the LCHS cafeteria. Parents are encouraged to attend... Question and Answer session will follow.
Aug. 8th: Full-Scale Disaster Training Exercise at L'Anse Creuse High School. The cafeteria is the meeting spot at 7:30 am. Lunch and debriefing will take place after the completion of the exercise.
In the end, the safety and security of our children in L'Anse Creuse Public Schools is of the utmost importance. The local collaboration between our school district, emergency personnel and county officials increases our preparedness for any type of emergency.
There will be additional information sent over the next few weeks and shared via social media outlets. If you have any questions regarding this exercise, the contact information is listed below.
