About Higgins

Francis A. Higgins Elementary has proudly served the L'Anse Creuse community since 1995, educating approximately 450 students in Kindergarten through 5th Grade, as well as Early Childhood Special Education. At Higgins, we are committed to fostering both academic excellence and the social-emotional growth of every child.

Our dedicated staff creates a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment where students are encouraged to learn, grow, and reach their full potential. We believe in maintaining a tradition of excellence by providing high-quality instruction grounded in research-based practices. Our teachers regularly participate in professional learning to ensure they are equipped with the latest instructional strategies and best practices.

We recognize that every student has unique strengths and needs. Through a comprehensive Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), targeted interventions, and personalized instruction, we provide the academic and behavioral support necessary for all learners to succeed.

Strong partnerships with families are at the heart of our school community. We value open communication and encourage families to be actively involved in their child's education. Our Parent Teacher Council (PTC) plays a vital role in supporting school events, enriching student experiences, and strengthening connections between home and school.

At Higgins, we are intentional about building positive relationships and creating a culture where every student feels seen, valued, and supported. Through our schoolwide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework and the Positivity Project, we promote character development, kindness, responsibility, and respect. Together, we work to ensure every Hawk is prepared to soar academically, socially, and emotionally.
