The heating, ventilation, & air conditioning (HVAC) course is designed to give students the opportunity to develop skills related to residential and commercial climate control technologies.  Practical, hands-on experience, as well as classroom instruction in gas forced-air, boilers, radiant/hydronic, geo-thermal, and water heating systems at a survey level is the focus of this course.  Job safety and instruction on the proper handling of power and hand tools will be taught and expected as part of the course.  Basic math, as well as related trades math will be learned through class instruction and on-the-job application.  A basic set of tools is provided by LCPS and is required to be worn in this course when in the lab area.  Students interested in pursuing a career in the field of HVAC whether as tradesmen, construction managers, engineers, architects, or designers would greatly benefit from completion of a one year program in HVAC/Climate Control Technology.
