Science Olympiad

The Science Olympiad is a national nonprofit organization devoted to improving the quality of science education, increasing student interest in science and providing recognition for outstanding achievement in science education by students. The Science Olympiad tournaments are academic interscholastic competitions that consist of a series of team events which students prepare for during the year. These challenging and motivational events are well balanced between the various Science disciplines of life science, earth science and physical science. There is also a balance between events requiring knowledge of science facts, idea processes, skill, and applications.

The program at Green Elementary encourages teams participation as a large group with adult coaches and students as well as working in smaller groups. We, at Green Elementary, encourage the parents to be a part of the Science Olympiad experience with their children by coaching a science event.

We work hard to make the Science Olympiad experience enjoyable for everyone.

New Kids Club

The New Kids Club is a program offered to the students in the second through fifth grades who are new to Green Elementary School. Students meet for three sessions during their lunch periods. Students have the opportunity to meet the staff, make new friends, complete activities that help them with the transition to a new school and share experiences common to all new students.

This seems to be a very enjoyable orientation program for the students. Activities include a photo session where the student’s picture is displayed in the hall, interviews about the student, a pizza lunch, questions-and-answers about Green Elementary School and sharing stories about their previous schools. One of the all-time favorite activities is when the students bring a friend to the last group meeting. All of the students have a great time!

The New Kids Club is a very positive experience for the children as they make this transition in their lives. We are delighted to have you and your children as part of the Green School family!
