Hey, Science Enthusiasts, check out this after school program! We meet after school from November until May. Students work together in small teams using their thinking skills and learned science knowledge to compete in 16 different science events.
The events include: Aerodynamics, A is for Anatomy, Crime Busters, Don't Bug Me, Get your Bearings, Grasp a Graph, Mystery Architecture, Naked Egg Drop, Reflection Relay, Rock Hound, Rubber Band Catapult, Simple Machines, Starry, Starry, Night, Weather or Not, Wildlife Safari, and Zowie Estimation. The events in bold are new this year.
Each student focuses on two or three events for the competitions in April, everyone will compete in the District Competition. In May, 15 students will participate in the County Event. Go Carkenord!
Carkenord’s Student Council
Student Council, sponsored by Mrs. Nowak and Mrs. Nowasielski, is officially up and running. Representatives for Student Council are chosen by fellow classmates and teachers. These students are chosen to represent the views of the student body, as well as to inform students, principal and staff about each other’s ideas, needs, and opinions. Students will also be learning about government and citizenship and promoting school spirit and leadership.
Some of the projects that will be sponsored by Student Council include:
Service Projects-Students will participate in several community service projects.
March is Reading Month- Student Council will be sponsoring several reading related activities to promote reading during the month of March.
Spirit Week - A variety of activities will be planned to promote school spirit.
Bake Sale - Students will be selling baked goods to raise money for the Student Council throughout the year.
Campbell Soup Labels-Student Council members will collect and count Campbell Soup Labels.
These are just a few of the activities that will be sponsored by Student Council this year! They will definitely be a busy group!
