Student Retention or Failure

Unfortunately some students, for whatever their reasons, fail to achieve at an acceptable level and as a result, must face failure and/or retention at their grade level. Grades of D or F are considered unacceptable. Teachers will communicate with the parent(s) of any student who is doing unacceptable work. In addition, formal written notice of unacceptable student achievement will be provided to the parent by the school administration at the end of each marking period. The final decision as to student retention or promotion will be made by the building administrator at the end of the final marking period. Parents are urged to stay in close communication with the student’s teacher in the event that a failure notice is received.
