Dress Code

The following guidelines were developed by a committee of students, parents, teachers, administrators, and board of education members.

L'Anse Creuse Public Schools require appearance standards that are based on safety, modesty and health.  Clothing that is disruptive to the educational environment is not acceptable.

Examples of inappropriate dress include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Clothing that advocates the use of drugs, alcohol, tobacco, violence, profanity, sex, or innuendos, as well as negative depiction of race, religion, sex or national origin
  • Hats/headwear except for religious or medical reasons
  • Revealing clothing such as tank tops, low-cut tops, skirts or shorts above mid-thigh, see-through clothing, sleepwear, or showing of undergarments
  • Appropriate footwear needs to be worn at all times
  • Outer/winter garments and backpacks are to be left in lockers

Parents/guardians and students are responsible for attire worn to school. However, the final decision as to appropriateness with regard to the aforementioned standards of modesty, safety and potential disruption will be determined by school administration and may differ between elementary and secondary.
