Discipline
At Yacks, we have a school wide discipline program known as the "FISH FIVE". Students who display appropriate behavior will be given positive incentives such as a “Caught you being good” tickets, and fish bowl tickets. For a student to be recognized, they need to display appropriate behavior on the bus, in the classroom, at recess and in specials classes. If students display inappropriate behavior they may be given a “Behavior Violation” from any staff member. All Yacks students are expected to follow the “Fish Five”. The rules are as follows:
-
Be Respectful
-
Be Responsible
-
Be Safe
-
Be Kind
-
Be In Control
Classroom Behavior Management
In my classroom we use a “stoplight” to help monitor behavior. All students begin the day with his/her name clip on the green light. A student is given a “reminder” for inappropriate behavior. If there is a second offense, the child is given a warning (name clip is moved to yellow). If there is a third offense or a serious problem the child’s name is moved to the red light. Parents will be contacted by letter or phone call if his/her child ends up on the red light.
