Mrs. Barrett's Kindergarten Class

Hello!  My name is Charlene Barrett and I teach full day kindergarten at South River Elementary School.  The 2010 - 2011 school year marks my 16th year of teaching in the L'Anse Creuse Public Schools.  I have taught Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade and the 1st/2nd grade Multiage Program.  This is my 4th year teaching the full day kindergarten program and I love it!!  While working with the students, I think of myself as both a learner and a teacher.  Each school day brings a new challenge and the students' love of learning make my job very rewarding. 

My husband and I have been married for 18 years.  We are the proud parents of 3 boys ages 12 (Benjamin), 9 (Charlie) and 6 (Colin).  We also have a spunky 4 year old yellow lab named Kiara.  My family keeps me quite active outside of school and I enjoy playing tennis, biking, exercising, gardening, baking, reading and hanging out with my family.

I have been a part of L'Anse Public Schools since I began attending kindergarten in Mrs. Michael's class at Atwood Elementary School.  I also attended Middle School-North and graduated from High School-North.  I earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Michigan State University.  I earned my Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Wayne State University.
