Welcome Visitors!!

Hello!   My name is Mrs. Julie Thompson and I am the music teacher here at South River Elementary.  This web page serves as a window into our music classroom.  Please visit us often to find out about all the musical happenings taking place in our building. 

Half Day Kindergartners receive general music instruction twice a week for 25 minutes a session.

Full Day Kindergartners receive general music instruction three times a week for 25 minutes a session. 

Students in Grades 1-5 receive general music instruction once a week for 50 minutes.

Recorder Information   

 

This area provides students and parents with information regarding the recorder program.  You can print your own order forms from this site.   Homework assignments and classroom activities are posted as well. 

 

Upcoming Concerts

 

This area provides information on fourth and fifth grade choirs, the John Armstrong Performing Arts Center, and Upcoming Concerts.  Information includes permission slips and performance schedules.  In the future I hope to post pictures of past performances and possibly even sound clips. 

 

Mrs. Thompson's Music Room

 

This area includes several links to music related sites designed for students.  There are lots of cool games and interesting activities for children.  Be sure to check out our Composer Spotlight as well as our Get South River Singing link--it's a great way to get the whole family sharing in a musical experience!!  The Word Of The Week is now online for your viewing pleasure!  

Hey Sharks, we have GREAT NEWS!

 

COMING SOON!!!  We are going to be Recording a Music CD right here at South River Elementary and ALL our students will be the Star Performers!  The CD will be entitled “Through The Years” and will include songs that were popular during the years that South River Elementary has been in existence (1875-2007).  This is a wonderful memento celebrating the opening of our new building and something you DO NOT want to miss out on.    The CD’s will be professionally produced and packaged, personalized by school and have a complete listing of all the kids’.

 The CD’s will include one song performed by each individual class (18 tracks) as well as bonus material.  

 

All Things Media, the producers of the CD, will be recording in our school during your child’s weekly music time with a state-of-the-art mobile recording studio and best of all, you’ll be able to purchase the CD for your kids as a memorable childhood keepsake or

for family and friends as a thoughtful and entertaining gift!

 

The kids are so excited and already working hard, learning and practicing all the songs.  What a great way to support your child and your school.

 

Our School is scheduled to be Recorded on: Oct. 22nd, 24th, and 26th.  More Details will follow!

 

Official Order Forms will be sent home on October 15th.

 

CD Release Date is set for December 10th (just in time for the holidays).
