SkillsUSA Regional Competition
At the Skills USA regional competition March 1, 2008, students from the Frederick V. Pankow Center placed well enough to advance to the state contest in Lansing April 18-20, 2008. Three students took a gold medal in CSI: Tracy Merony, a senior from LCHS; Timothy Niedling, a senior from LCHS-N; and Sara Sebesta, a senior from Richmond High School. In Advertising Design, Jordan Dorley, a junior from LCHS - N, placed second and Mark Trombley, a junior from LCHS, placed fourth. In the first responder/CPR contest, Aaron Fuller, a junior from Richmond received a bronze medal and in Criminal Justice, Anthony Cucchiara, a junior from Richmond, placed fourth. SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization serving teachers and high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations. It was formerly known as VICA (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America).
