Live radio play airing April 23
Take a trip back to the 1950s and experience the fun of being in the audience of a live radio play. Students in the L’Anse Creuse Performing Arts program at the Frederick V. Pankow Center recreate the 1955 version of a radio production, which includes the play, “The Bad Seed,” written by playwright Maxwell Anderson. “The Bad Seed” is the spellbinding account of malicious child Rhoda Penmark whose inherited evil causes the demise of many an unsuspecting acquaintance.
Along with the play, a trivia quiz show and musical contest is planned with prizes for the winning contestants drawn from the audience. The audience will experience first-hand the fast-paced world of live radio, complete with sound effects, vintage costumes, corny commercials and a temperamental diva.
This old-fashioned radio production will air Wednesday, April 23, at 6:30 p.m. from the John Armstrong Performing Arts Center (JAPAC), 24600 F.V. Pankow Boulevard, Clinton Township (south of Hall Road, off Gratiot Avenue). All tickets are $3 and can be either purchased at the JAPAC Box Office in advance by phoning (586) 783-6520 or on the evening of the performance. For more information, contact Jankowsky at 586-783-6570 ext. 2004
