Ten week grades will be based on the following criteria:
Computer lab average (daily work) 50%
Participation grade (how well on task) 25%
Written average (tests,etc.) 25%
Ten week grade total 100%
Computer Lab Average
At the end of each ten-week period, lab assignments and projects will be evaluated according to the following criteria.
Web site planning
and time maintenance . . . . . . . . 15 pts
Web site development . . . . . . . . 50 pts
(Architecture,navigation, graphics)
Internet usage . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 25 pts
Lab station care and clean up . . . . 10 pts
Total lab ponts . . . . . . . . . . . . 100
Participation Grade
This computer lab class is based on daily computer and class participation by each student. Every student is expected to be on task at his computer for 90 minutes daily. Each day a student is off-task his grade will lower by one grade.
Loss of a grade can be determined by:
-Visiting unassigned internet sites
-Wasting class time (not working on
assigned project)
-Any infraction of class rules
-Demonstrating a lack of proper
behavior as expected in a business
environment
**Students accumulating twelve non-productive or “loss of grade” days in one 10 week marking period will result in an “E” for participation for that entire 10 week grade.**
Written Average
Tests, quizzes, worksheets, reports, resume, employability assignments, etc. All written assign-ments and Web based assignments will be evaluated according to the following scale.
HOMEWORK & WRITTEN WORK:
Since all students do not have home computers, there will be no homework in this class except an occasional written assignment.
WHAT'S NEEDED:
A pen and/or pencil for notes, everything else is supplied in the classroom.
CLASSROOM RULES:
Cell phones or audible pagers / beepers shall be turned off and not visible during school hours (7 am - 2 pm). A staff member will confiscate these electronic devices if the device rings during school hours; if the student is talking on the device during school hours (7 am - 2 pm); and / or if the device is observed in the student's hand. A student may pick the device up in the Main Office at the end of their CTE Pankow class.
Students who bring any electronic devices to school do so at their own risk. Loss, theft or damage is not the responsibility of the school.
I. CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR
A. Each student will begin the semester with a participation grade of “A”. This grade relates directly to classroom performance, behavior and also business behavior, meaning students need to understand appropriate behavior for the working environment. Any infraction by the student will result in a loss of points, detracting from the initial grade of “A”. During the course of the marking period a student could conceivably drop from an “A” to a “F” if he/she does not adhere to classroom rules.
B. Behavioral expectations while in class.
1. Never anything to drink in the classroom other than water.
2. Each of us in this room will treat each other with the proper respect.
3. Proper language is to be used at all times demonstrating a mature business atmosphere.
C. The teacher will always be the judge deciding when and how many points will be deducted depending on the severity of the indiscretion. The points will be averaged at each marking period and grades given accordingly.
D. Also, any student standing at the doorway before the bell rings will be given a point. This is unprofessional behavior. No employer would allow an employee to stand at the door wasting time waiting to leave work. All students will remain at their computer until the bell rings.
E. The permission of the teacher is always required to leave the classroom. Students always need a signed permission form to be in the hall for any reason.
F. In keeping with the m oral and educational philosophy of the school, a student’s honesty and integrity in all academic work is expected. Any form of plagiarism - copying another’s work, improper conduct during tests, or any other lack of propriety in doing one’s individual academic work will be considered a serious violation of the function of this classroom and could result in the loss of credit for the assignment in question.
G. Students must be on-task for the entire class period to earn all points every day.
H. Appropriate internet use is always expected meaning only assigned websites can be visited.
Absences & Tardy Policy:
Parents are asked to contact Pankow as well as the home high school to excuse an absence. Parents may contact Pankow at 586-783-6570, any time day or night. Parents are asked to contact the schools within three days of the absence.
The school recognizes that illness and excused absences may interfere with performance of homework and class projects. It is for this reason that students are allowed three (3) days following their return to school for each day of "excused" absences for completion of their obligation.
daily Attendance: Daily attendance is required in all CTE classes.
Tardies and Unexcued Absences:
- 3 tardies are equal to one (1) unexcused absence;
- parents will be informed at the third (3rd) , sixth (6th)
and ninth (9th) absences by LCHS or LCHS-N;
- sending school parents will be informed at the fifth
5th), eighth (8th) and eleventh (11th) absences;
- three (3) unexcused absences will result in the student
being placed on credit review;
- eleven (11) absences (excused or unexcused) will also
result in the student being placed on credit review
