Course Description: This class provides classroom training in the school districts elementary, middle and high school classrooms. Students will work in the classrooms with an assigned "Mentor Teacher", participating in the different aspects of teaching.

Special Features
- Student compiles a professional portfolio to use in college or employment
- Successful completion of this course fulfills the high school graduation requirements for: Visual, Performing, and Applied Arts credits
- Students successfully completing the course requirements and earning a "C" or better will receive a "Teacher Cadet Skills Certificate"
- Students can obtain community service hours by working with their mentor teachers, special projects and after school activities
- The Teacher Cadet Program is Articulated with the following schools: Ferris State University, Macomb Community College, Oakland University, and Baker College
- Students can earn Advanced Placement Credits at the college level after taking this course
- Students can apply their contract hours with children to local universities "College of Education"
- Students will participate in the Future Educators of Association (FEA); a club emphasizing leadership skills
- Students earn their CPR/First Aide Red Cross Certification cards
