COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course combines various skills involved in the manufacturing environment related to the processing of industrial materials. Individual and group projects that stress quality and accuracy are used for instruction. Machining areas will cover saws, drills, mills, lathes, and grinders. Also included are fabrication and welding skills. Welding will cover Arc, Oxy-acetylene, MIG, TIG, Gas and Plasma Arc Cutting. New this year will be our Virtual Training along with Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) Machining. This links our class to Macomb Community College for articulated college credits.

COURSE OBJECTIVE: The objective of this course is for students to acquire the necessary skills in machining, welding and fabrication in order to either continue post secondary work or become employable at an entry- level position in a manufacturing environment.
STUDENT OUTCOME: To develop the proper attitudes, safety awareness, technical skills necessary to become gainfully employed in precision machine based manufacturing and/or to continue their education within the Engineering / Manufacturing career pathway.
CERTIFICATION: Local 2-year Pankow CTE Skill Certificate upon completion
