Course Description: 

The Network Administration and Computer Service Technology course is designed for students who have an interest in computers and networking.  Students taking this course will learn how PCs operate, as well as how to troubleshoot, repair, upgrade, and maintain PCs.  Students will also learn basic computer networking skills including how networks work, and how to properly connect and configure networks.  Computer networking is a growing field with great opportunities for growth and advancement.  Students completing both years of this two year course will have the skills necessary to attain an entry level position in the computing/IT field.  Students will also be prepared to take industry recognized certification exams from CompTIA (A+, Network+).

What Students Will Learn:
Network Administration is all about how computers and other devices communicate with each other.  Students in Network Administration will learn about a variety of topics under networking from working with cabling and cabling standards to hardware devices like routers and hubs all the way up to protocols (or rules of communication) behind networking.

Students will also gain an understanding of the Internet and the technology that makes it work.

Computer Service Technology is dedicated to teaching students about how computers function.  Students will have the opportunity to open and work inside of computers, learning about the different components inside.  They will learn about hardware (physical components like motherboards, RAM, and hard drives) and software (programs and files) and how they work together.
