MARKETING & RETAIL MANAGEMENT Course number 927 (1 year program) Grades 11, 12 2 hour block 2.0 credit / year

Prerequisite: Marketing-Strategies and Advanced Marketing Strategies & Entrepreneurship.
Recommended Courses: 2 years English, Math and Science. This is a one-year course that puts into practice the theory behind real-life business situations. The operation and management of the Pankow school store will help students gain practical experience in the following areas of retail operations: salesmanship, recordkeeping, customer relations, decision making, scheduling, buying & pricing, displaying & sales promotion, human relations, budgeting, marketing mathematics, cashiering, entrepreneurship, merchandising and inventory. Business ethics and employability skills are an integral part of the course. Students will gain confidence and the opportunity to achieve marketable skills through this course. Students will also take part in DECA (the national marketing student organization). College credit can be earned with a “B” average in this course.
NOTE: Successful completion of this course fulfills the high school graduation requirement for a credit in Visual, Performing or Applied Arts. Externship eligible program. Available only at the Pankow Center
