COURSE DESCRIPTION: This business course is designed to prepare students for employment in a wide-range of business settings. Students will learn to make decisions based on data, develop leadership skills, and achieve organizational goals through planning, organizing, leading / directing and evaluating / controlling. Students will learn and expand their knowledge with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access. Other projects include employability skills, business etiquette skills and business ethics. With completion of this class, students will have the opportunity to take the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) exam at their own expense.
NOTE: This course will fulfill Computer Literacy requirement for graduation.
EXTERNSHIP (co-op) ELIGIBLE PROGRAM
COURSE OBJECTIVE: Students will develop basic skills for the office management field as well as to take the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) exam and workplace competencies upon completion of this course.
STUDENT OUTCOME: Students will have basic office management skills for job opportunities in an office environment. They will be able to apply to take the MOS certification test.
CAREER TECHNICAL STUDENT ORGANIZATION: Business Professionals of America (BPA)
CERTIFICATIONS: Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) if desired, 1-year Pankow CTE Skill Certificate upon completion.
