School Program Overview

L’Anse Creuse Public School District operates the Macomb County Juvenile Justice Center School Program in conjunction with the Macomb County Family Court, Juvenile Division.  All teachers are endorsed and hold Special Education/Emotionally Impaired certifications by the State of Michigan and trained in working with at-risk students.

All students are required to attend the in-house school program.  School is in session on a daily basis except weekends and school holidays.  Classes begin at 7:30 A.M. and end at 2:25 P.M.  Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies are included as part of the core classes.  Other classes assigned may be Physical Education/Health, Career Explorations, and Chapter 1 (math and reading).

Students are pre-tested upon entering academic classes and are prescribed class work appropriate to their achievement level.  Class size does not exceed ten students.  The school curriculum is supplemented by one of the best computer assisted instruction programs in the state.
