Objectives of an Effective Juvenile Justice System
An effective juvenile justice system must meet three objectives:
- Hold the juvenile offender accountable
- Enable the juvenile to become a capable, productive, and responsible citizen
- Ensure the safety of the community*
*These goals form the basis of the balanced and restorative justice framework being adopted by jurisdictions across the country to balance the needs of victims, the community, and the juvenile.
