The Week in Review:  October 3, 2008

In art Mrs. Olgiati said we are going to start drawing sea life. She also said since last in year in 4th grade we did killer whales this year in 5th grade we are doing sharks! I just started drawing a mermaid and seaweed. After the mermaid and seaweed I’m going to draw the shark. My picture will not be above water showing the horizon line; it will be under the sea. In the drawing it will show lots of little fish and schools of fish and a bunch of coral. I think art is soo much fun and it will be fun next week too!

Wow, talk about having your hand sore! I and the whole class made up a plan for a story all about us. Then, after the plan I wrote the introductory paragraph about me. The was all about me. (Well of course) I wrote how I played three sports and how I loved Aeropostale and Abercrombie.  I also wrote about how I love me Meme. When I was all done with the introductory paragraph the next day we started writing a formal writing piece. The theme for the writing piece was fall. In that story I wrote about how I loved getting the gooey stuff out of pumpkins and how I love leaves crunching when you step on them also how I absolutely LOVE Halloween. Hopefully the writing piece turns out great!

Multiplying dollars and decimals is what I did in math this week. Mrs. Baier handed out a math menu for us. We had a lot of assignments with that menu. One day we went around the class room and asked four people what they wanted from the menu and to find out how much they wanted of that certain food I rolled a twenty sided die. Whatever the die landed they wanted that much of the certain food. Really math was super duper fun this week. I hope we do more of multiplying!

In science we are learning about acceleration. We went to the lab and drew a ride that shows acceleration. I drew the airplane ride that I saw at the Saint Hubert’s fair. I went on Kids Pix to do my picture because I did not want to go on PowerPoint. I wrote on my paper that this ride is accelerating by changing direction and by speeding up. I love science a lot!!

For reading Ms. Niscar came in and she was dressed up as a detective. She gave us a paper that had a mystery on it. The mystery was who tore up the football coaches rose bushes. We were with partners so I was with Ashley M. After we read the story there a question. The question was whom does Max suspects. It was Sam. We picked the wrong answer. My mystery book is Nancy Drew and the mystery of the tapping heals. It’s a good book!!

Music was cool too. We played our recorders. I love playing our recorders. We played Queen Bee and some other songs (I forgot the names of those songs). We also sang our song of the month. Our song of the month is she’ll be coming around the Mountain. That song lasted for a very long time. I love that song!!  Ms. K and Mrs. Thompson are really nice!!!

In school this week we played our finished games in social studies. Are Marco Polo game had gotten   a   B. Some people  gotten 100% on their games! Are game was very nice. We have nice little pepper cards. I made the peppers on the back of the cards.

Gym was exciting this week! We played basket ball and another game in gym. The other game was only for a couple of   minutes   it might have been less than 4 minutes but it was fun. In gym we now do points and where almost close to getting an extra gym class. In order to get an extra gym class we need to earn 500 points. So in order to get 500 points we must act good. I  am not sure how many points our class

has.

In Spanish we learned if were good we  will get three peso`s. (Known as money in Spanish). So far it has only been 2 weeks and we only have 1peso!. We also got post cards from another school. They seem nice so far.
