Grading
Student's grades are weighted, meaning their overall grade is based on their performance on each task in the following categories:
Homework/Classwork: 30%
Tests: 30%
Quizzes: 30%
Participation & Effort: 10%
Students should expect to receive homework on a consistent basis. Students are expected to record all assignments and concepts covered in class into their Assignment Book (provided). Students are generally given time in class to begin their homework and ask questions they may have prior to taking it home. Assignments are expected to be finished by the beginning of the hour the following day, unless otherwise indicated.
Quizzes are generally given every other week and tests every 3-4 weeks, or at the conclusion of each unit. Students are notified well in advance of upcoming quizzes or tests.
Participation & Effort marks are determined by student's work ethic, willingness to participate in class, attitude, and ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.

In 2007-2008, we will be using new textbooks for both the General and Advanced Math Classes. These textbooks have a number of advantageous components and resources that we will use over the course of the year. Many of these resources both students and parents will find helpful and can be accessed at home via the Internet (see link below).
These new textbooks are expensive!!! Use of a book cover is recommended. Students are fined if textbooks are returned in a condition that exceeds normal wear and tear.
