MSE Eighth-Grader Placed First in the "You Be The Chemist" Contest

It’s a three-peat for Aidan B, an eighth-grader at L’Anse Creuse Middle School  East, who placed first in the You Be The Chemist contest held at Macomb Intermediate School District March 11, 2008. The county competition is similar to a spelling bee where students answer six leveled questions per round with the lowest-scoring person being eliminated each round.  The competition is open to fifth- through eighth-graders. To qualify for the competition, students answered a 75-question test about chemistry. Aidan's next competition is the state meet in Midland, Mich., at Dow Chemical April 26.  Last year, Blum tied for fourth place, just out of the top three who advanced to the national competition in Philadelphia.  For more information, contact teacher Barb Frankowiak at 586-493-5200.
