Mini Dialogue Day
for Seventh Grade Students
On Friday morning, February 2, 2007 Middle School Central 7th grade students will be participating in our second annual Mini Dialogue Day, modeled after the district Youth Dialogue Day for older students. ( /Community/CAC/Youthdialogueday.htm) Seventh graders have the opportunity to discuss topics of importance with community leaders, parents, staff members, and other seventh graders in small groups. Each group is led by a high school student who has participated in Youth Dialogue Day and an adult volunteer.
After introductions are made to the entire group of participants, students and adults move to their small group rooms. Each group is made up of students and adults who together examine the main concerns about their topic and how it affects students at Central. They also brainstorm suggestions to change or improve the situation. All groups return to the Cafeteria and representatives from each small group share their group’s ideas with everyone. Suggestions from last year’s Dialogue Day have influenced changes at Central this year.
We are looking for parent volunteers who would like to participate in this year’s Mini Dialogue Day. If you are interested in joining us for this exciting event, please contact Mrs. Diana Conklin, Counselor, at 586-783-6430, ext. 1106 or conkldi@lc-ps.org.
