Counseling Office
Welcome to the MS - C Counseling Department Web Page
Dear Families,
We would like to acquaint you with the staff of the Counseling Department at Middle School - Central and the services available.
Students want to speak to their counselor about a variety of topics. Often it is a relationship problem - problems with another student, a teacher, a friend, or someone outside of school. School counseling is not like counseling at an agency, so if a student needs more than we can offer, we refer families to outside agencies. Please contact us if you would like more information,
We are the contact person if you would like to meet with your child's teachers to discuss any problems they may be having. If your child wants to make a change in his/her schedule - with your permission - they need to see one of us.
Counselors also provide classroom guidance lessons for teachers to use. Topics include suicide prevention, harassment/bullying prevention, and career awareness.
In addition to individual counseling, classroom guidance, and parent consultation, we offer structured group sessions that deal with specific concerns. Topics may include getting along with others, decision making, communicating in the family, grief support, and handling peer relationships. While not therapy sessions, educational groups can be an excellent way for students to learn new skills, practice new behaviors, develop self-confidence, and better understand how to handle situations.
We encourage you to call us at anytime and look forward to working with you this school year.
