Attendance and Late Work Policies
The English Department is united in the following policies:
Students who have an EXCUSED absence will be allowed to make up tests, quizzes and assignments.
Students who have an UNEXCUSED absence on the day a test, quiz, or assignments is due will earn a ZERO on that test, quiz, or assignment.
Due dates and test/quiz dates are announced in advance. An absence the day before a test, or prior to the date for any assignment does not excuse students from taking the test, quiz, turning in assigned work, or participating in class discussions.
Late work is not accepted for credit. Students have until 2:05 on the date an assignment is due to submit work before it is declined.
Deadlines for assigned work and tests apply even if a student is “Hall Swept”. There is no excuse for missing work even if a student misses class due to hall sweeps.
Deadlines for reading assignments are strictly followed.
Tests/Quizzes
The English Department is united in the following policies:
Students have three days after an excused absence to take a test or a quiz.
Tests and quizzes cannot be made up if an absence is unexcused.
Make up tests and quizzes will be given based on the teacher’s discretion.
It is the student’s responsibility to make arrangements to make up tests and quizzes.
