Calculators
We are fortunate to have a classroom set of TI-83 Plus graphing calculators as well as some TI-Nspire graphing calculators. Each student who uses a classroom calculator is assigned a permanent calculator and is responsible for the calculator during their class period. Any damage to a calculator must be reported to me immediately.
Homework (15%)
Each homework assignment is worth 15 points. The 15 points is comprised of two separate scores; one for punctuality of the assignment and one for learning from your mistakes.
Punctuality: Students earn 10 points for turning in a complete assignment on the assigned due date. One point is deducted for each day the assignment is late. If the assignment is more than one week late, it will not be accepted at all.
Learning from your mistakes: For every homework assignment, there are two scenarios for this part of the grade:
1. A student earns 5 points for correcting their assignment as many times as necessary for the assignment to be completely correct.
2. A student earns 0 points for not finishing corrections or not attempting corrections at all.
There is no reason for a student to have less than 100% for their homework grade.
Quizzes (40%)
Quizzes will be given on a weekly basis. Students must earn at least a 70% on a quiz to show they have mastered the material. Students that do not earn at least a 70% must get help and re-take the quiz.
Tests (45%)
Students will be given two unit tests each quarter. These tests are worth 45% of a student's quarter grade and cannot be re-taken.
Absences
When an absence is excused, a student has the same number of days to complete all missing assignments as the number of days of the absence. For example, if a student was excused from school on Monday and Tuesday, the student has until Friday to turn in all of their missing assignments. If a student has an unexcused absence, their work is due with the rest of the class and will be reduced if turned in late.
