Background
I have spent the majority of my life in Macomb County but have also enjoyed life outside Michigan. After graduating from Mt. Clemens High School I attended CMU where I earned two degrees in Communication. Following my time at CMU I moved to Park City then Salt Lake City, Utah where I lived for six years and taught at Utah Valley State College. In 1999 I moved back to Michigan and earned my teaching certificate though Wayne State University in English Education. I have been employed by L'Anse Creuse Public Schools since 2000.
Family
I am married to Anne (also and English teacher)and we are expecting our first child in May. My parents, who were both educators, still live in Mt. Clemens. I have one sister, five nieces and nephews, three sisters-in-law and two in-laws, all of whom live locally.
Hobbies
Given a choice I would always rather be outside than in. My first love is bicycle racing. I have been racing since the early 90's. I participate in Mountain Biking, Road Racing, Track Racing and Cyclocross. Typically I spend over 500 hours a year training and cover over 5,000 miles. This past summer I had the opportunity to travel to France and ride several stages of the Tour de France. We rode 2,100 miles and climbed over 100,000 vertical feet in fourteen days.
Travel is another passion of mine. I have been to Europe on six occasions spending time in Italy, Spain, France, Switzerland, England, Germany and Belgium.
My family has homes in Northern Michigan and Kentucky and we visit them often on holidays and in the summer.
I also enjoy motorcycles. I have been riding sine the age of 10 and have owned a bike of some sort ever since. My wife and I usually take one extended trip on the bike each summer.
