Students attend the Michigan Interscholastic Awards Conference
L’Anse Creuse High School –North newspaper and yearbook students attended the annual Michigan Interscholastic Press Association Spring Awards Conference in Lansing April 21 and earned a Gold Award in overall newspaper competition and a Gold Award in overall yearbook competition. Individual award winners are:
- Nicole C, a senior, First Place for Story Package and Third Place for Story Package (she handles page 7 of The North Star)
- Cara M, senior: Honorable Mention, Front Page/Newspaper Style
- Courtney R, senior: Honorable Mention, Photo Story
- Chloe R, junior: Second Place, Informative Feature Story
- Jimi F, senior: Honorable Mention, Human Interest Feature Story
- Katie J, senior: Honorable Mention, Editorial Cartoon
In addition, the North Star staff took first place for a professionally published page, the Macomb Daily pages.
“Out of 3,300 individual newspaper entries from students around the state, students received recognition in Division 1 (almost 800 entries), which is commendable,” said Kim Kozian, publications adviser.
