NCAA Clearing House Steps Student Athlete – Clearing House – High School – College.
If you want to go to a NCAA Division I or II you must go through this process.
Must make sure you are taking the 14 core classes. Guidance Counselor will know what they are.
Clearing House + Admissions = College. www.ncaaclearinghouse.net
July 1st Junior year coaches can visit face to face/telephone. Setup visits to colleges and watch games.
Fall Senior year – make sure by this time you are communicating with coaches once a week. 1st week in February Senior year Signing Day.

Advisor – Make sure the decision is right for them.

College Coach Hoops
- Identification process.
- What do I have to do to sell it to the player?
Things to consider when contacting College Coaches
- Be original. Do not copy a letter and put your information in. (Ex. Sport Source Letter)
- Communicate your interests.
- Have a resume
- Why would you be a good fit with their team?
- Follow-up 5-10 days after sending your packet.
- Make sure the coach’s name is spelled correctly.
- Make sure the name of the school is spelled correctly.
- Use Spell Check
- College coaches receive 1,000 pieces of information from players a year. Be short and sweet.
- Include e-mail addresses.
- Put your graduation date down.
- Put whom you play for High School and Clubs
- Put your position down. Be Specific. (Ex. Left footed Defender)
- HS/Club Coaches can contact College Coaches at anytime but it is best for you to contact the coach.

3 Things to look for in a school
- Academically good. You are going to get a degree.
- Athletics – Must be happy with Coach and Program
- Social – School size etc.
The college decision will be the biggest you make in your life. May determine whom you marry, what you do for a job and how you live.
Process can start as early as freshman year.

- Players who say what happened.
