Come to any meeting

Club is a chance for students who are interested in art to have more time to develop skills, meet other art students, work on art portfolios, and to share ideas.

Bowling Club

Boys and girls are both eligible, physicals are required to try out, low cost to participate on the team

Tryouts take place starting the 3rd week of November

A chance for students interested in bowling to develop their skills and to compete against other schools.

Close-Up Washington D.C. Trip

1 Week in Washington D.C. Attend Scheduled Meetings

See Mr. Boice in Room 115 for more information.  Open to 10th, 11th, and 12th graders.  Payment required for trip.

Students have the opportunity to see government close up in D.C. for seven days with other students from around the United States.

Japanese Club

Small amount of Japanese background, open minded people, - please.

This club is full of unique people who want to learn about other cultures, such as Japan.  We learn Japanese, play Japanese games and watch Japanese shows.

Link Crew (Freshman Mentor Program)

Requires about one hour every three weeks – any junior or senior is eligible to join (can apply at end of junior or sophomore year)

Responsible for helping ten freshmen adjust to high school life through freshman orientation and school projects.

Literary Magazine

Club(Pencil Marks)

Weekly meetings to work on the publication, Pencil Marks. The magazine is a collection of creative writing, artwork, and photography submitted by students.  Open to all interested students

This club gives students a venue to express their creativity.  The goal is to create and design Pencil Marks, which will be published in the spring.

Mu Alpha Theta

Previously or currently enrolled in Pre-Calculus or AP Calculus.

Tutoring 2-3 times/year at Math Help Day.

4-5 Mandatory Meetings per year

Must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA in all mathematics classes taken at LCN.

Goal is to promote an awareness of mathematics in our lives.  Also has opportunities to earn community service hours.

National Honor Society

Students who have a 3.3 GPA or higher are eligible to apply.  Must be involved with at least one other school sponsored sport, club, or activity.

Applications are mailed in late December to all sophomores and juniors who have a 3.3 GPA or above.

This group participates in many community service activities and school projects such as tutoring, fundraising projects, and other projects to help our community.

North Star Newspaper and Yearbook

Must have previously taken Journalism class in your 10th or 11th grade year

Journalism pre-requisite with permission from publications advisor

The North Star is a 12-page newspaper written and designed by students for students eight times per year.  The Quest yearbook is almost 300 pages and is conceived, written, and designed by students.  It comes out in June.

PEPP Club

Peers Education Prevention Program (open to any interested student)

Attend a PEPP club meeting or talk with a current PEPP club member

Students are trained in communication and listening skills.  They also explore topics such as substance abuse, teen pregnancy, STDs and decision making skills

Photo / Video Club

Open to anyone, meets various times after school, should have a 35mm, digital, or video camera

Cost depends on student involvement (film and photo paper no more than $20)

Learn about studio lighting, photography, darkroom film developing, digital photography, and software

Quiz Bowl

Practices on most Tuesdays after school until 3:30-4:00, matches on Wednesdays until 6:30

Attend a quiz bowl practice for more information

Quiz bowl consists of general trivia questions – questions range over many topics.  Competitions use a lock-out buzzer system in a competitive match.

Ski Club

Students must be interested in skiing or snowboarding. There are small costs associated with lift tickets and rentals.

Must attend Monday ski trips to Mt. Holly (Dec. 1st through first Monday in March)

Weekly ski trips to Mt. Holly offer a chance for students to develop their skiing and snowboarding skills.

Stars and Stripes Club

Monthly  meetings to discuss projects related to helping our troops overseas.

Regularly attend Stars and Stripes meetings.

Student Council

Student councils are elected representatives of the student body that help with school activities and events. There are monthly meetings both in and out of school, as well as meetings for the grade.

Student council elections take place in the spring of each school year.

Students help with school events such as: homecoming, charity drives, blood drives, powderpuff game, snowcoming, staff appreciation events, and the Acada-Me Awards.
