Homework

Homework will be given as needed. There are two types of homework.  Daily homework is assigned for the next class period.  Long-term homework consists of projects, papers and presentations. Long term homework is due on the date given.  No late work will be accepted.  Homework is given to enhance student performance by connecting the old with the new. Homework is due as the student enters the classroom.  Any homework not turned in at the beginning of class will receive a zero.  Any assignment not fully completed will receive a zero. Messy homework will receive a zero.  Any homework without a name clearly written on it will receive a zero. In addition, any student missing a test due to an absence, must make up the test before or after school on the closest Thursday of their absence.  If this is not done, they will automatically receive a zero.

Attendance:

In general, students who attend class consistently earn higher grades.  This class will follow the attendance procedure outlined in the student handbook.  It is the responsibility of the student to contact the teacher the first day back from being absent.  For example, if a student is absent on Monday, he/she must come in Tuesday to get the assignment. The assignment is still due Wednesday.  If the student is absent from class due to an extended illness, it is his/her responsibility to get the homework missed upon the student’s return and to discuss a schedule outlining new due dates. If this is not done, the student will take zeros on all missed work.

Please note that participation is an essential component of second language learning therefore class participation is figured into the final grade for each student.

Grading Policy:
