National Merit Scholarship Finalist

 

L’Anse Creuse High School senior Emily S. is a finalist for the National Merit Scholarship.  Of the 15,000 semi-finalists, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation selects 8,200 finalists for the National Merit® $2500 Scholarship, the Corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship or College-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards. Emily submitted her PSAT score, an essay,  her application and letters of recommendation.  She currently carries a grade point average of  3.75 and is flute section leader for the marching band.  In addition, Emily performs about 12-15 hours per week in community service for Michigan for Change, a democratic support group.  Emily hopes to attend the University of Michigan or Michigan State University to study music, German or biology.  For more information, contact Ann Hart at 586-783-6400 ext. 2036 or at hartan@lc-ps.org.
