Master Gardeners Club

 

The Junior Master Gardeners Club at Francis A. Higgins Elementary School will host a fund-raiser in their parking lot with Deneweth’s Greenhouses Oct. 11 from 10 a.m.  4 p.m.  Pumpkins, gourds, corn stalks, straw bales and mums will be for sale with 20 percent of the proceeds going to support the Junior Master Gardeners Club.  The Higgins gardening club received a $5,000 grant last school year from Lowe’s to improve their garden and build an outdoor learning center.  Deneweth’s partnered with the club last year by donating the vegetables for our pizza garden,said Katie Hoffner, club sponsor.  The students used the vegetables they grew to make pizza sauce this year.  For more information, contact Hoffner at hoffnka@lc-ps.org.  Higgins Elementary School is located at 29901 Twenty-Four Mile Road.
