Positive Behavior Support (PBS)

We would like to introduce you to our new program on positive behavior in school. The students attended a program in the cafeteria explaining how the program works for us at Higgins. We have 3 major rules to base our behavior on...

  • Be Safe
  • Be Respectful
  • Be Responsible

There are posters in each room and in the hallways to help remind students of the rules.

If your child is showing any staff member good behavior they may be rewarded with a Hawk Hero Award. They fill out their name and put it in the award box in the office and on Fridays are eligible for the drawing that week. They may win a small thank you treat if their name is drawn.

Another way to send out a good message to students is to have the teacher fill out a Hawk Happy Gram on them. These are sent home to the parents to see what an excellent job their child has done. This may be earned by listening carefully to directions or walking properly in the hall or setting a good example of great behavior for other students.

Our front hallway will display the students names who make the Higgins Hall of Fame. Teachers will chose one student each month who exhibit excellent behavior and can be a model for others. Their names and pictures will be hanging in the Hall of Fame for that month. We are excited to get this program going. We have already given out hundreds of Hawk Hero Awards and Happy grams.

Keep up the good work students!
