U.S. Department of Education:  This "Especially for Parents" section of the Department of Education website contains information about schools that can help parents make informed decisions about their child's education.  Topics covered include No Child Left Behind, gifted and talented and special needs programs, homework help and much more!

 

Child Safety on the Information Highway:  A guide to Internet safety for young people, originally from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and Interactive Services Association.

 

Children's Defense Fund:  This Washington D.C. organization advocates on behalf of all children to ensure a safe, healthy, educated, successful passage into adulthood.

 

Connect for Kids:  This nonprofit site provides news and information on issues affecting kids and families, over 1500 helpful links to national and local resources, and two e-mail newsletters.

 

ReadyWeb:  ReadyWeb is an electronic resources library containing articles and links to information on how to aid in assuring children are prepared for school.

 

The Council for Exceptional Children: (CEC) is the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities, students with disabilities, and/or the gifted.

 

Family Education Network:  A place where parents can find school solutions, homework help, parenting tips, and expert advice.

 

Michigan Education and Children's Services:  This Michigan.gov parents' page is designed to make parents aware of current education issues affecting Michigan schools.

 

Michigan Reads!:  A website sponsored by the Library of Michigan that encourages parents and children to read and celebrate literacy together. 

 

Reading is Fundamental: The parents' page of Reading Is Fundamental, a national organization dedicated to promoting reading in schools, homes and communities throughout the United States.
