Theme: This week we will begin learning about the seasons and the life cycle of an apple tree.
Word Wall words: each week I will let you know our word wall words for the week. These are words your child is expected to learn throughout the year.
Our word wall words this week are:
Down, little, her, big, up
Please see the attached homework.
Your child should practice writing the word wall words five times each and then using each word in a sentence. It is important that your child write the sentences and the words. I am only concerned that the word wall words are spelled correctly at this point. It is fine for your child to sound out the other words. Please return by Friday 10/9
Word Family: Our word family this week is the “ay” family (play, stay, may). Please see the homework attached to the newsletter. Have your child list as many words that belong in the “ay” and “ay” word families. This homework is due by Friday 10/9 (see attached).
Everyday Math: In math this week we are learning compliments of 10; practicing number writing; counting up and back to and from 110; counting by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s to 110; and beginning to learn how to tell time to the nearest hour.
Field Trip: A permission slip and note regarding our fall field trip to Upland Hills Farm will be coming home in the next few days.
Homelinks: Unit 2 math homelink packet is coming home today. There is an attached schedule explaining when each homelink is due!
Parent Volunteer Calendar: Parent volunteer calendars will also be coming home later this week.
** Please send any lunch/breakfast money in an envelope labeled with your child’s name on it! Recycling junk mail envelopes works fine!
Have a wonderful week!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Clay
