What is Multiage??

Our Multiage classroom consists of third and fourth graders. There is approximately 40-50 students in the classroom, two full time teachers and two para-pros. If students are ener into the Multiage program in the third grade, they will remain in the program for two years.

In reading and writing, students are placed into small groups according to their reading levels and writing abilities. We meet with these groups and set challenging goals to meet individual needs.

Social Studies and Science is taught whole group. One year the content for Social Studies and Science focuses on third grade curriculum and the follwing year the content focuses on fourth grade curriculum. This does not mean that the third graders are expected to do fourth grade work or the fourth graders will be doing third grade work! Assignments and tests are modified to satisfy each grade level.

Math is taught by grade level. While the third graders are at a special (gym, Spanish, art, or music), the fourth graders are learning their math lesson. While the fourth graders are at a special, the third graders are learning their math lesson.
