Prospero Ano Nuevo
Happy New Year
We have had lots of fun learning about New Year traditions in Spain, Mexico and Puerto Rico. It is traditional in most Spanish-speaking countries for people to eat 12 grapes at Midnight on New Year's Eve. They also make 12 wishes, one for each month of the New Year. We had lots of fun with our wishes.
In Spain, it is traditional to choose a name of a family member and do nice things for that person all year long. Fourth and fifth graders chose the name of someone in their classroom and are working on doing nice things for that person. Try this one out at home!!!
At Christmas time this year we had fun trying out Mexican snowflake cookies and Mexican Hot Chocolate. Try out these simple recipes at home!
