Fantasy

Create Your Own Scenario (K-2)

Students are provided with a scene of several animals.  Given the chance to create their own scenario, students are prompted to write a brief description of their scene and also write dialogue for their characters.  Once completed, students can click the "generate my scenario" button to watch their scene come to life.  This website lends itself very well to both fantasy and fable writing!

Fantasy Genre Bookmark (3-5)

This printable activity sheet is a template for a fantasy genre bookmark.  This book mark lists the characteristics of the fantasy genre and asks students to notate the page numbers on which these characteristics are visible.

Fantasy Sampler (1-2)

Get ready to have some fun with fantasy! There are many games to play, stories to read, and exciting creatures and worlds to investigate which make fantasy unique.  This internet hotlist provides several websites as well as question prompts to guide your students through these sites.

Reading Rainbow Silly Sentence Machine (K-2)

From PBS, the interactive silly sentence maker is dually beneficial in that it teaches students about parts of a sentence as well as elements of fantasy.  Using the sentence maker, students are prompted to create silly, make believe sentences.

Tina's World (K-2)

In this interactive game, Tina, a young girl, takes students through journeys of her imagination.  After hearing the story, students are asked to decide if Tina is talking about things that are "real" or things that are "make believe".  Your students will truly enjoy this site!
