Welcome to first grade! My name is Valerie Vietto and I will be your child’s first grade teacher. The 2007-2008 school year is my first year at Carkenord. Prior to teaching in L’Anse Creuse, I taught in the New Haven Community Schools.  I graduated from Oakland University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.  Currently, I am pursuing a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education at Oakland University.

            Teaching is more to me than just a job. I take my commitment as a teacher very seriously. My goal is to provide an environment that will meet the individual needs, develop positive attitudes and behaviors, and provide opportunities for children to become independent learners. I support and encourage parental involvement at home as well as in the classroom.
