Arrival/Dismissal Procedure
PLEASE REVIEW the understated policy with regard to transporting your children to and from school. We are concerned for student safety and want to do all that we can to ensure that your child's experience is a safe one.
If you are driving your child to school or picking your child up after school, the following guidelines will be enforced:
- Students MAY NOT cross the street or any road that cars have access to, by themselves.
- The transporting adult must escort students to and from the sidewalk.
- The bus circle is for busses only.
- NO STUDENT may stand on the sidewalk by himself waiting to be picked up from school. Students are released from the office only.
- Families utilizing the SACC program or any of the Early Childhood Preschool programs may utilize the parking lot in the back of the building. HOWEVER, during school hours, all doors throughout the building will remain locked with the exception of the main office entrance.
- We are asking that students are not on school grounds prior to 8:40 AM as there is no supervision until that time.
While this policy may sound rigid, it is one that I feel will help to ensure student safety. We have too many cars out in the mornings and afternoons that lend to potential danger for students. Please help us to ensure safety for all children by reviewing this policy and supporting Carkenord's efforts.
ALSO, please review the Early Dismissal of Individual Student policy below. This policy is the same policy included in the parent handbook. Your support in helping students know their travel arrangements and sending a note to the classroom teacher helps us to get students home safely.
Students will be released from the school office, ONLY. If it is necessary for your child to be dismissed from school early, please call for him in the office in person. At this time it will be necessary for the parent to sign out the student. Students will not be released to any person, including relatives, whose name does not appear on the Pupil Enrollment Card unless a note indicating otherwise is sent to the school office. If at all possible, appointments that necessitate release of the child during school hours should be made as soon as possible on the day your child is to be released early. A note written to the child's teacher indicating your request for early dismissal will be appreciated. Parents are discouraged from picking up their child in the office at dismissal time without prior notice.
Your support and understanding is appreciated. Thank you for helping us to make Carkenord Elementary a SAFE place.
