Carkenord’s Student Council

Carkenord’s 2007-2008 Student Council, sponsored by Ms. Patrona and Mrs. Darlington, is officially up and running.  Representatives for Student Council were chosen by fellow classmates and teachers. These students were chosen to represent the views of the student body, as well as to inform students, principal and staff about each other’s ideas, needs, and opinions. Students will also be learning about government and citizenship and promoting school spirit and leadership.

Some of the projects that will be sponsored by Student Council include:

  • Service Projects-Students will participate in several community service projects.
  • March is Reading Month- Student Council will be sponsoring several reading related activities to promote reading during the month of March.
  • Spirit Week - A variety of activities will be planned to promote school spirit.
  • Bake Sale - Students will be selling baked goods to raise money for the Student Council throughout the year.
  • School-Wide Assembly - Student Council members will be diligently fundraising throughout the year to sponsor a school-wide assembly.
  • Staff Appreciation - Students will work on a project to recognize all of the adults that help to make our school a special place to be.
  • School Beautification - Students will work on improving Carkenord grounds by picking up trash, planting flowers, and planting trees.
  • Wednesday Broadcasts- Student council representatives will conduct the Wednesday Broadcast announcements.
  • Newsletter- Students will work to create a student council newsletter to inform students, staff, and families of student council activities and projects.

These are just a few of the activities that will be sponsored by Student Council this year! They will definitely be a busy group!
