Riverside Academy conducts Dialogue Day
On count day, Sept. 26, 2007, the students at Riverside Academy will want to show up to participate in their first dialogue day, an opportunity to share their views openly with adults on issues relevant to teens.
Some of the topics will include:
•School rules at Riverside •After-school activities •Abusive relationships •Post-school opportunities •Why we have group •The female image in society •How to deal with the death of a loved one •Bullying and you •Youth image in our community •Parental/family relationships •Staff-to-student communication, and •Friends helping friends.
“We believe that open dialogue lends to better instruction for students,” states Michelle Irwin, director for community relations & programs. “Dialogue Day aligns with our new instructional practices that include authentic learning experiences and an opportunity to express oneself in a manner consistent with our national freedoms.
It is a way to train students on effective communication and perception of the individual rights of all.”
The sessions will run from 9:08-9:53 a.m. and 1:08-1:53 p.m. Riverside Academy is located in the L’Anse Creuse-Mount Clemens Adult Education Center at 33 North River Road in Mount Clemens.
