More Choice and One-of-a-Kind Options at L’Anse Creuse

Choosing L’Anse Creuse Public Schools for your student(s) is the first step towards a comprehensive educational program that is research-based, founded on the principles of Best Practice and national state curricular standards. Programs designed to meet the individual and unique needs of children, meaningful learning experiences and powerful partnerships with parents and community enable every child to develop his or her potential.

Parents can begin their child’s academic future at L’Anse Creuse in Kindergarten. Additional support services and childcare options are available to all students. The L’Anse Creuse Schools of Choice program is open to students entering K-7. Siblings of students accepted in the Schools of Choice program will also be able to enroll in the district on a space available basis.

Students within the L’Anse Creuse district may take advantage of some of the most unique offerings available in Macomb County. Beginning in kindergarten, students may be eligible for the expanded full day program or K+ program, offered in each of its 10 elementary schools (based on available seats). The passage of a 10-year bond will enable students to learn in state-of-the-art facilities, including the construction of three new buildings. Every school building will receive upgrades in facility and technology. Lastly, high school students will have niche programs available including a new Math/Science/Technology Center and Performing Arts Center that will open in the 2006-2007 school year. What we want parents to understand is that kindergarten is the doorway to programs not available to students in all other Macomb County schools. As students progress in their education, they can look forward to taking authentic courses in that fully prepare them for college or other post-secondary opportunities, states Dr. DiAnne Pellerin, superintendent. Very few districts have such a unique building as the Pankow Center where students can take high level math, science, technology, career & technical, and performing arts courses. L’Anse Creuse has all of these programs and more.

Open enrollment started March 1, 2006. If more spaces are requested than available, student placement will be based on a lottery system. Once a student is accepted into L’Anse Creuse, they may remain a student through graduation. For more information, contact Michelle Irwin, director of community relations & programs at: 783-6300, extension 1206.
