Technology & Learning

Before and after school programs provide time for long-term projects that can last the entire school year. These projects can include many levels of thinking. Computers, digital cameras, and other technology units can all be used to bring parents, children, and communities together.

Setting up a project around a common theme such as holidays, animals or other interests can be very exciting to school age children. Communication and interaction with others helps to stimulate their interest and enhances their learning. Remember to let children have a say in the decisions and be in charge during activities that occur.

Technology can teach children causal reasoning (if I do this, then that will occur) an example of this might be if I move to fast while filming with my video camera will the tape be blurry?

After school programs are a great way to have children learn through their interactions with others. Parents that interact in their child’s learning experience can help in the building of strong minds with in a community.
