How to Create a CD
To create a CD you will need three things:
- CD burner
- CD burning software
- Blank CD
A CD burner, whether internally built into the computer or externally connected, usually used once for data or music storage, while a CD-RW is rewritable. Most recordable CDs can hold 650 megabytes of information to 700 megabytes. When marked for audio recording, these are 74 or 80 minute discs.
You will begin by inserting a blank CD-R into the CD burner. In most cases the CD burning software will launch automatically. If it does not, you must start the software manually by a right click on start then click on explore then double click on your CD Rom drive.
After the software has been loaded, choose the type of CD you want to create, music or data. After you make your choice, identify the files you want to burn, usually done by navigating through your hard disk and dragging and dropping selected files onto the list of files to be burned. Once you have selected the files to be burned, click on “burn”, “done”, “record” or similarly named buttons to initiate the burning process. This process will take a few minutes to complete. You can label your CD on the topside by using a soft tip permanent marker or simply follow the directions that come with most CD burning software.
