E-Mail Safety
- Know your child's e-mail account and password, and talk to them about the people they are meeting online.
- Encourage them never to send personal information or photographs via e-mail.
- Check your child's inbox, sent files, deleted files and address books to make sure they are not endangering themselves. You may want to route their e-mail to your account first.
- Use Internet blocking software to protect the viewing content and monitor e-mail.
- Don't be fooled by SPAM, unsolicited e-mail sent out in bulk. Do not reply. It only confirms an active e-mail address. Arrange to move this type of e-mail to a junk or "deleted items" folder. Check your help menu for options.
- Be aware of strangers pretending to be friends with your child via e-mail. Do not allow in-person meetings.
